N2E...Progressive Thought in Motion.

To be truly healthy we need to care for ourselves and for our world. It's that simple. 

The upwelling of interest in the green movement and personal health movement grows stronger each year...unified by the view that we must take responsibility for the lifestyle choices we make every moment of every day. The time has to adopt new, integrated, and progressive ideas aimed at improving our health. 

By taking a community based approach to wellness and melding it with the power of the internet, N2E aims to document, promote and inform people about wellness in San Diego County.  The hope is that this approach will engender a new awareness of the powerful forces at play that are changing how we live our daily lives.   The time has arrived to adopt new practices that lead to personal betterment and a healthier planet. Become an active member of the N2E community.  Contribute your thoughts and share your experiences in healthy living so that others may learn.  If you are a provider of services and goods that improve health or improve our environment then make a commitment to spread the news here.  Be a bridge to wellness.

Welcome to Next2Eden!  N2E is a site that envisions a healthier future for all people. N2E addresses wellness in the broadest of terms – personal improvement and improvement of our living environment. This is as much a journey of growth for me as I hope it will be for you. 

I have always been curious about biology. Balancing my curiosity is my desire to help improve the human condition. I spent 5 years achieving a Ph.D. in molecular biology from The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, an excellent research center, and continued my post-doctoral research studies at UCSD. Subsequently, I worked for a number of biotechnology companies in the thriving biomedical community here in San Diego. Working as a scientist was a rewarding experience, however the advances made using this approach to health require tremendous resources and there is no guarantee of success. I realized that my spirit was motivated to help people in a more direct and immediate way. Consequently I developed this site, N2E, to promote wellness in San Diego County. I have focused my efforts to making this site easy to use and worthwhile visiting. I do this because I believe that there are already many ways available to us to improve our lives. The difficulty is sorting through information and making good knowledgeable decisions. The power of the internet is that it makes it easy to access information. This is where my skill as a scientist can be applied. In a general sense I have been trained to be an information explorer. I have learned through years of scientific discipline how to read and evaluate information and find knowledge that is pertinent and credible. I have learned how to navigate through jungles of information, blazing a trail to understanding. I hope to be your guide in the new world of wellness as practiced here in San Diego County. 

N2E started its development at the beginning of 2008. It is still in its early stages of growth. I am author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and I will be editor-in-chief for N2E. My greatest challenge is to generate content for the site that is useful to people involved in the wellness revolution. I am keenly aware that this site will only succeed if there is a commitment from its members. Therefore, I encourage you to visit this site often and make comments on your wellness experiences. Further, if you are knowledgeable about an aspect of wellness, either personal wellness or eco-wellness, please contact me and I can arrange for you to be an author on a wellness topic of your choosing.
